Allendale-Hampton Baptist Association

Our Story

The association was “born” at Estill, South Carolina, October 21, 1958.  The churches located in Allendale and Hampton counties decided to break away from the Savannah River association for the purpose of forming a new association.  There were 24 churches forming the new association.  The First Annual Session was held in October 1959.  The first Moderator of the Association was Rev. Frank Fisher.

In 1998 the churches voted to construct a new office building in Brunson on land that was donated by Mrs. Sue Y. Chandler and Rev. and Mrs. I.C. Vassar.  This new 3,000 square foot building would serve as the headquarters and include a Media Center, a Christian Worker’s Training Center, a Mission Action center, and provide office space for the Coordinator-Secretary.  Construction began in 1998 and was completed in 1999.

We now have a membership of 27 churches and Rev. Darrell A. Smith is the Director of Missions
